Package: apt
Version: 0.5.4
Severity: wishlist

apt-get build-dep uses the build dependencies of the currently
installed package, not of the source package you are trying to build.
I discovered this while trying to build gnucash.

This is particularly problematic in my situation: woody system, but my
sources use sid. Also, my current gnucash is a Ximian package!

The desirable behavior here is not entirely obvious. One approach
would be to download the necessary *source* packages. Another would
be to offer to get the binary packages from the appropriate
distribution; presumably this would require appropriate entries in
sources.list (mine points only to woody for binaries at the moment).

Hello bugreporters!

apt-get source respects the --target-release now for quite a while
and a short while (0.7.21) also accepts codenames so it seems
to me that these bug are f&f (fixed and forgotten) so i close them
now with this message.

I have cc'ed every submitter of these bugreports so everyone
can check again if the issue is fixed, can me prove correct or not
and is able to reopen the bug if i missed something, so
please feel free to do so if needed.

Best regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

David "DonKult" Kalnischkies
