It seems to require (via Build-Depends) newer packages than are
available on ‘squeeze’, which is my primary environment.

This means I'm unlikely to get much time to assess this branch in the
near term. If you are confident the bug has been addressed, feel free
to mark it closed; I can re-open it if I disagree later :-)
