Package: apt Version: 0.6.46.4-0.1 Severity: important Hi, By moments when I launch apt-search whatever, I get the following results : % apt-cache search php terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc' what(): St9bad_alloc zsh: abort apt-cache search php I's the principal error message, but there are sometimes alternatives like this one : Exception : apt.cc:466: void surrounding_or_internal(const pkgCache::DepIterator&, pkgCache::DepIterator&, pkgCache::DepIterator&): Assertion "found" failed. The workaround is to do aptitude update and all work fine until the next use of uptitude (install|upgrade). After the same problem is back. I'm closing #413551. Justification: default APT::Cache-Limit was 8 MiB in Etch and is 20 MiB in Lenny. System administrators that set this limit to ~100 MiB should check manually that system can give such amounts of memory. Apt has nothing to do with it. -- Eugene V.
