Using libcurl3 to implement http and ftp methods?

I'd like to ask for your opinion on converting the methods mentioned
in the topic to use libcurl3 to perform their work instead of doing
it all on themselves.

I don't know about ftp/rsh/ssh, but at least the http method seems
to have some problems (most of the symptoms show themselves in
connection with Transfer-Encoding: chunked), and the code doesn't
look all to maintainable IMHO.

I'd step forward to actually code up http and ftp methods using
libcurl3.

What do you think of this? Would a dependency for apt on libcurl3
be ok?

Cheers,
