I could be misinformed about the unit modifiers.

Note that Foldoc writes:

  some, including this dictionary, use this strictly, reserving
  upper case "K" for multiplication by 1024 (KB is thus
  "kilobytes").

Anyway, why the capital B? It's bytes, not Bytes. The name is not
that of a person.
