Attempting to take this serious, I would like to point to FOLDOC:

If APT should -- for some reason -- opt to move against the correct (and
commonly accepted) prefixes, I won't be a Debian user! :)
Everytime I see an application mention "kB" instead of "kb" or "KB", I smile
inside, thinking "somebody who has insight wrote this". It's even better when
the application uses kilo-binary units.

By the way, Radians have no unit and neither does pi, from which radians
derive. A degree is no more than a postfix of (2pi/360) = 0,017. Was it added
to maths for reasons of understanding?

While the discussion's on, I'd too like to see APT move towards 2^(10*n) for
units. I don't know if that would pose a problem -- but, I've said it.
To summarize, I strongly oppose this move -- even to the extent that I am
confused about it being brought up.
