Ugh, I worked around it and used shared libraries instead. At least it
works and runs, but I haven't really tested much else yet.
I just used this in environment.mak:
SONAME_MAGIC=-Wl,-h -Wl
Solaris 8, gcc-3.3 configured to use /usr/ccs/bin/ld
