I cannot do this until bug #111654 is resolved, or someone sends me
an auxillary parser for the Packages file (which I will immediately refuse
to add, as it's an excessively ugly workaround)

If I have some extra free time, I may try to hack this into apt. It
doesn't seem like it should be hard, but I remember having some sort of
trouble. And if this will break backwards compatibility (it'd probably
modify vtables, so that seems likely), I expect Jason will not be too
eager to do it and force everyone and his brother to recompile all the
apt frontends again...
