Subject: apt-get: waitpid (4 Interrupted system call)

Package: apt
Version: 0.0.17-1bo0

This may be another incantation of bug #23892 (Uncaught exception from
user code) but it looks a little different IMHO. The message I got was:

E: Couldn't wait for subprocess - waitpid (4 Interrupted system call)

while I was doing the full blown upgrade (apt-get upgrade) from debian
1.3 to debian 2.0 (hamm as of July 7 1998). I'm guessing that apt-get
treats SIGWINCH as a reason to exit, cause I had just resized the
xterm in which apt was running.

As a result I couldn't complete my upgrade easily :( Fortunately the
only thing that appeared broken was that apt depends on
libstdc++.so.2.27.1 and that library had been moved. After putting
that back in /usr/lib/ and running ldconfig I was able to finish the
upgrade (or so it appears.... time to explore :)

Other infomation about my system just in case it is relevant:

 uname -a
   Linux jokerman 2.0.27 #5 Thu May 7 08:12:24 EDT 1998 i586 unknown
 ls -l /lib/libc.so.5
   lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Nov 10 1997 /lib/libc.so.5 -> libc.so.5.4.33

thanks,
jw
