Oh, while I am thinking about it..

libpkg was designed to be a more general approach to package managment,
allowing simpler use in forign packaging systems (ie rpm). To this end it
is split into two (three someday..) sections, the main library which is
'package neutral' and the individual format things, deb (and rpm)

The format things deal with the structure of the packaging system. Stuff
like package list parsing, cache generation and status updating go in
there.
