So, what is the status of VDPAU in Debian?
Should it be dropped entirely?

FYI, gstreamer1.0-libav depends on libavutil60, which depends on
libvdpau1, which recommends vdpau-driver-all | vdpau-driver.
But vdpau-driver-all has

  Depends: libvdpau-va-gl1, mesa-vdpau-drivers

where libvdpau-va-gl1 has always been broken and should be removed
from Debian (bug 1112130) and mesa-vdpau-drivers, which no longer
exists. And vdpau-driver is just a virtual package (provided by the
above two packages).
