I can confirm that. I'm using KDE and not only is the functionalitydescribed above gone, in KDEs Touchpad Dialogs, all relevant settingsare greyed out. I also uninstalled the package andxserver-xorg-input-all aswell. Touchpad response immediately came backto normal. I would also recommend keeping the synaptics driver the default.
