Well, Yves-Alexis Perez, the maintainer of the Debian lightdm package---
which, incidentally, appears to have become the *only* display manager
available in Debian---disagrees with you. How should this be resolved,
then? Does this need to go to tech-ctte?
The lack of shell profile initialization in an X terminal emulator is
fundamental breakage, and it needs to be resolved in Jessie.
