Bug#605961: xserver-xorg-video-intel: kms prevents X starting on Idealpad U350 unless booted in single-user mode

Very good guess. I had in fact just worked this out and tried it. It
is indeed the cause. I guess that is a kernel bug? (Maybe it can't work
without acpi but it should probably say so rather than just quietly
fail or give a 'no such device' error.) 

Thanks for the quick response.

Should this bug be moved to the kernel (or closed?) I did try 2.6.35
but it just crashes on that machine, so I don't know if this is fixed
with newer kernels.
