Looks like your /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so is from an
fglrx driver installation, which probably can't work with other drivers.
Try fixing that.

Not sure how that ended up installed on the system, but the dist-upgrade to testing was not clean/easy and dependency chaos reigned for a while. While removing the fglrx packages now allows glx to run without crashing flash in full screen mode (thanks), this still leaves the issue of why is X not aborting on what should in my view be a fatal error at startup?
