Yeah, closing, you should report this either to the *buntu people or
directly to intel at bugs.freedesktop.org.  But I'm not even sure what
you're asking for is possible, there are brightness/contrast settings
for XV, but not for X in general, afaik.  (I have no clue about hdmi
though.)
