See also bug #523455. That did nothing on my side (using that command in a shell window in my KDE session). That's maybe because there is some other magic that I didn't do...:-)...but I'm a very good example of a dummy user who just want things to work (and who, btw, doesn't care at all whether HAL should be enabled or not..:-))
