Seconded. I'd appreciate any hint that would help me reinstating tapping. These things are among the things that have always been working magically for me, so I have no clue *at all* about where to look to reinstate tapping. So, in case there is a NEWS file, I think it should explain how to restore a working tapping....though I would very much prefer that things are kept as is, to respect the principle of least surprise.
