Bug#395943: I can confirm this bad behavior

I have the Volari XP5 video controller and running lenny, starting X,
screen goes black.  If I add 1280x768 to the 'Modes' in SubSection
'Display' of 'Screen', I get a 'skinny' screen (lots of black on the
left and right margins).  Unusable.
