Hi,

if xorg detects a second monitor connected, it starts up with a virtual
screen larger than what I set in xorg.conf.
(X700, laptop 1680x1050 right-of flat panel @ vga port 1600x1200)

Output of xrandr after startup, note that current is larger than maximum:

Left and right border of the large virtual screen (the part that I can see) are
drawn incorrectly, a screenshot is available.

One I setup the dual head again by calling

xrandr --output VGA-0 --auto --left-of LVDS

I get

I think I just reproduce the problem on my Radeon Mobility X300. I observed
3 problems when using LeftOf:
1) the position of the Right screen is wrong (it seems to be computed as if
   the Left screen was the wrong one)
2) the "current" screen size can exceed the "maximal" screen size
3) some garbage appears on the Right screen

I couldn't reproduce any bug with Xserver 1.5-rc1. As pointed out by airlied
on IRC, it might well be commit fa19e84714aa84a2f2e817e363d6440349d0b619.
We may want to backport this one into 1.4.

If the bug reporters want to test, they need to take xserver-xorg-core,
xserver-xorg and x11-commont and the drivers from http://pkg-xorg.alioth.debian.org/7.4/
(xserver-xorg-core is also available in experimental).
Note that DRI is disabled for now.

I am merging, reassigning the relevant bugs to xserver-xorg-core, and marking
as fixed in 2:1.4.99.901-2 (the 1.5-rc1 package from experimental).
