A little update: I tried to switch from EXA to XAA acceleration and
redid the test.
After adding the line
Option "AccelMethod" "XAA"
to the Device section of my xorg.conf and restarting the X server,
I am using XAA acceleration:
# grep -i xaa /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(**) intel(0): Option "AccelMethod" "XAA"
(**) intel(0): Using XAA for acceleration
(II) Loading sub module "xaa"
(II) LoadModule: "xaa"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules//libxaa.so
(II) Module xaa: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
(II) intel(0): Using XFree86 Acceleration Architecture (XAA)
(II) intel(0): 0x01950000-0x0195ffff: xaa scratch (64 kB)
Unfortunately I *can* reproduce the bug with XAA acceleration, as well:
I still get the undesired X-ray view superpower... :-(
