I think that's 0x8 instead of 0x80 but it doesn't matter, I got the idea :)

No, I just meant "after downgrading and restarting X, does the obvious
disappear?"


By the way, can you try without any Xkb config in xorg.conf? (for
instance with no xorg.conf at all).
