Bug#449321: Cannot set screen resolution in xorg.conf using ATI driver

Woo hoo! That did it. It also got rid of an annoying white line at the bottom of my screen that's been there forever. Thanks so much! I've donated $25 to the Debian project as a token of my gratitude.

Cheers,

Mike

Brice,

Unfortunately, installing the new driver didn't fix the problem. I'm
attaching the Xorg.0.log file. The new driver does seem to be
installed; I can see it in dselect.

The log below confirms that 6.7.195 is used.

(II) RADEON(0): Output VGA-0 using monitor section Configured Monitor

(II) RADEON(0): Output DVI-0 has no monitor section
(II) RADEON(0): Output LVDS has no monitor section

Try adding
	Option "Monitor-LVDS" "Configured Monitor"
to the Device section of your xorg.conf.

The driver seems to be using your monitor section for the VGA output
by default (probably because VGA-0 is first in the list of outputs
supported by your board).
