Bug#432803: compiz: Compiz causes completely blank screen when switching virtual consoles
Package: compiz
Version: 0.5.0.dfsg-1
Severity: normal
When running compiz and switching back to the virtual console
containing the X session, the entire screen is black and only a mouse
cursor shows up. The desktop behaves as if it's responding to the mouse
(at least to the degree that I could tell) but no action appears to
restore the contents of the screen. Furthermore, the X server no longer
appears to respond to ctrl-alt-backspace. The only way to recover from
this is to kill the offending X server manually.
This makes logging in as a different user in a different X session or
switching to a different virtual console for administrative purposes a
complete non-option unless one is willing to sacrifice the current
session. Hence the grave status.
This is with the native NVidia drivers (version 1.0.9755) on a GeForce
6200.
