Thanks for testing this, and also for adding a comment to the upstream
bug report!

For the record, the line that you modified has been with this comment
"XXX Guess, need to check this" for more than 7 years now. And the
commit that introduced it doesn't give any hint about where the old
12MHz value comes from...
