My VGA out does want to be disabled with xrandr as can be seen above. If
I excute xrandr -q a couple times in a row it sometimes displays a
disabled VGA out but on the next invocation of xrandr it is disabled
again:

arjan@nebula:~$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1280 x 1280
VGA connected (normal left inverted right)
   1280x800 60.0
   1280x768 60.0
   1024x768 60.0
   800x600 60.3
   640x480 59.9
LVDS connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right) 304mm x 228mm
   1024x768 60.0*+
   800x600 60.3
   640x480 59.9
arjan@nebula:~$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1280 x 1280
VGA disconnected (normal left inverted right)
LVDS connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right) 304mm x 228mm
   1024x768 60.0*+
   800x600 60.3
   640x480 59.9
arjan@nebula:~$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1280 x 1280
VGA connected (normal left inverted right)
   1280x800 60.0
   1280x768 60.0
   1024x768 60.0
   800x600 60.3
   640x480 59.9
LVDS connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right) 304mm x 228mm
   1024x768 60.0*+

Also XVideo is not working anymore (not sure of that is used in
gnome-screensaver). Is this related to detecting of two displays?

Totem, which uses XV, does not display anything. And the last time I
runned totem after trying xrandr --output VGA --off it crashed Xorg.

After I rebooted the machine and started totem again and did a xrandr
--output VGA --off it crashed again.

Greetings Arjan
