Package: xbase
Version: 3.3-4
Severity: normal
Operating system: Kernel 2.0.27, libc-5.4.33
Distribution: Debian 1.3.1r6 (Intel)
Not standard packages: Use of bash-2.01 instead of debian's bash-2.0
-----------------------------
Problem description:
When I use an OpenLook Application on my display, some bindings of
xterm disappear until I Restart my Xserver. The bindings I use map
some ALT-key with ESC key. The purpose of this mapping is to use the same
key bindings as emacs in an xterm.
I use the package fvwm-2 2.0.45-BETA-4.
I use xserver-svga 3.3-4, on a Matrox Millenium.
-----------------------------
Procedure to generate bug:
- Add some resources to generate bindings
XTerm.VT100.Translations: #override : \
<KeyPress> Prior:scroll-back(1,page) \n\
<KeyPress> Next:scroll-forw(1,page) \n\
Meta<Key>B: string(\033B)\n\
Meta<Key>C: string(\033C)\n\
Meta<Key>D: string(\033D)\n\
Meta<Key>F: string(\033F)\n\
Meta<Key>L: string(\033L)\n\
Meta<Key>R: string(\033R)\n\
Meta<Key>T: string(\033T)\n\
Meta<Key>U: string(\033U)\n\
Meta<Key>Y: string(\033Y)\n\
Shift Meta<Key><: string(\033<)\n\
Shift Meta<Key>.: string(\033>)\n\
Meta<Key>.: string(\033.)\n\
Meta<Key>BackSpace: string(\033\010)\n\
Meta<Key>Delete: string(\033\177)
- Run an xterm, try the bindings : everything is OK.
- Then on a remote Sun machine, run some OpenLook apllication, (cm,
mailtool, debugger, perfmeter, ...)
- Try the bindings of your xterm, Meta-key doesn't work anymore !!
Although ESC-key works perfectly. This problem seems to be *only* with
xterm. Emacs continue to work perfectly with Meta-key.
- Restarting the window manager does nothing, I must restart the X server.
-----------------------------
Best Regards.

Thanks Thomas. I'm thus closing this bug, anyone able to reproduce it
should feel free to reopen and explain how to reproduce.
Cheers,
