Hmm, probably due to backporting xorg from Ubuntu.

I have seen this too on a fresh installation on a Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505
After the installation of the system the kbd and mouse modules are not
installed. Nor are the video drivers.

Yes, this fixed it for me, too.
