Great. Unfortunately, I can't install it because of current x11-common
breakage (#362711 and its duplicates).

No, I didn't, this is still 1:7.0.10.

I powered down the computer since the initial report. And now the
situation is quite confusing. Although libxv1 is still 6.9, mplayer is
broken again. However not all my xvideo applications are broken:
totem-xine correctly displays videos for example.

As soon as I can install packages again, I will do some more extensive
testing and see if there really is a pattern.
