Does anyone know why and when this patch was included in Debian?  The
only reference to it I could find in the changelog (or old changelog)
was that it was resynced in Sept 2004.  The reason I'm asking is that
if it was applied just because of that one Red Hat user, maybe we
should simply remove the patch and default to acceleration like
before.  If there are complaints, maybe they can be debugged instead
of just having acceleration forcibly turned off.

As I mentioned earlier, my laptop has had uptimes of over a year, and
even then it is rebooted intentionally, so acceleration is very stable
on it (in XFree86 4.1, at least).
