Upgraded to the xorg packages by including repositories mentioned on http://www.livejournal.com/users/gravityboy/ I earlier had the xorg packages from ubuntu. The upgrade was problematic and had to resolve many conflicts (x11-proto*) and others. But I finally have the debian xorg packages. No problems yet.
