I could be way off base here, but if you use both /dev/psaux and /dev/input/mice in XF86Config-4, and they are both driven by the same mouse, you effectively double your mouse packets. Does XFree86 account for this? I doubt it - how could it know? So, for the default case of having two mouse devices, I think it makes perfect sense to disable the one which is now deprecated. If an administrator has manually edited XF86Config-4 to remove the second mouse device, that same administrator should be able to read the upgrade notes on 2.6 kernels, and know what to do. Or so one might think. Alas, that might be too much to hope for. I don't think the alternate default (shipping with /dev/psaux emulation enabled) is that much better, though. Peter
