I think you're ill-informed, offbase, and making invalid inferences. I did not and do not expect Mr. Stone to have done any more work than he has done, which is considerable. But as long as I am the package maintainer, I feel a responsibility to get Debian packages of 4.3.0 ready. Other people have been tremendously helpful in this regard, but when I accepted maintainership of our XFree86 packages almost 6 years ago, I understood this to mean that I committed to (at the very least) overseeing the preparation of new upstream releases to unstable, or doing it myself. Simply not working on it myself because Daniel Stone had other (important, as I recall) demands on his volunteer time was not an option I was willing to exercise. Sure, I could have simply let branches/4.3.0/sid drop on the floor. I chose not to, because I feel a responsibility to the rest of the Project, and to our users, not to do so. That I am a volunteer does not mean I treat the time I spend on the Debian Project as a lark, or something to idle away the time with when I cannot occupy myself with something that bores me less.
