I think that may be a hasty conclusion.  Full-motion video playback is
often highly driver-specific.  It just may be that both drivers fail to
implement similar functionality.

Graphics card manufacturers are often cagey about releasing good
programming information for CRT controller chips hooked up to non-VGA
outputs when the graphics chipset supports video because of fears that
nasty open source programmers won't pass through Macrovision signals,
or, worse yet, will let individual users decide for themselves whether
the Macrovision signal should be passed through or not.
