If you're not able to upgrade to XFree86 4.3.0 (in Debian testing "sarge" and Debian unstable "sid"), could you try to reproduce this problem using one of the unofficial woody-backport packages of XFree86 4.3.0? http://lists.debian.org/debian-x/2004/05/msg00224.html While not official, those backports are prepared my a member of the Debian XFree86 package maintenance team and are *extremely* close to the official packages. -- G.
