Note that this isn't just 'freedesktop.org' we're talking about here, it's the new-and-improved X.org Foundation's versions of these packages which I'm pushing towards a more modular structure. I plan on migrating bits of the upcoming X11R6.7 release into the modular tree and essentially abandoning the version in the monolithic tree -- making the default monolithic build not install bits which come from the modular environment. Everything remains ABI/API compatible, so we shouldn't affect existing packages at all, aside from the X packages having new names in some cases. -keith
