Package: xserver-xfree86
Version: 4.2.1-15
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

When I start linux using the kernel-image 2.6* (installed via dselect)
the xserver doesn't start anymore. Because I have two video cards I try
a dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 and set the bus with a PCI:01:05:0
(the lspci report the MGA G400 at 01:05.0) without any fortune.

We'll get to that in a moment.

No, it does. See below.

=2E..and here we find the smoking gun. It has nothing to do with your
video card, PCI buses, or hexadecimal or decimal based number systems.

The server failed because no mouse device could be found.

I am closing the report because your problem has nothing to do with
your video card, and is probably a configuration error.

You might want to use the "mdetect" package and command to attempt to
locate your mouse device.

I don't use Linux 2.6 myself yet, so you may want to ask on the
debian-user mailing list for advice as to how to configure it so that
the input devices will be seen.
