The bug seems to be fixed in the xf-4_3_99_2 branch.

>From XFree86 CVS changelog:

65. Add Radeon DRI suspend/resume support (Charl Botha, #A.1431).

The is also another bug regarding the Radeon driver wich was fixed in
CVS.

31. Fix lockup on server shutdown/restart with the radeon driver
    (Bugzilla #94, Michel Dänzer).
