This has already been filed a few times.

In a nutshell, the Mesa 3D hardware acceleration routines don't play
nicely with GCC 3.2.

No fix is known, though XFree86 4.3.0 reportedly does *not* have this
problem (it also contains a major new version of Mesa, which is likely a
bigger change than can reasonably be backported to XFree86 4.2.1).

In the meantime, software rendering should work.  Alternatively, you can
try downgrading the xlibmesa* packages to the versions in Debian testing
(4.2.1-3).

[debian-x: if you guys would help manage these duplicate reports and
answer this FAQ, I sure would appreciate it.  It doesn't seem to occur
to anyone to look for existing reports against the xlibmesa packages,
which tells me people don't really understand what those packages do.]
