If I'm interpreting the situation correctly, this isn't actually an error.
You're downloading the debs and installing with dpkg -i, correct?
But dpkg does not handle dependencies (dselect, apt-get do handle them), so
the xprt-common package (not part of xfree86) is not downloaded and
installed, hence the error you saw.
Once 4.2.1-5 is uploaded to the servers, apt-get should grab xprt-common along
with the new xprt, fulfilling the dependency.
But you really want xprt-xprintorg, not xprt ;)
By the way, Branden, there's a minor grammatical error in the new xprt
description. It should read something like
"Improvement of XFree86's version of the Xprint server is expected in a future release."
^^
instead of
"Improvement of XFree86's version of the Xprint server is expected in future release."
Or maybe "...in future releases".
