Please find attached a draft which could form the basis for documenting
a bug triager profile, which we currently lack. The draft as been
kindly provided by Julien Viard de Galbert (the mighty X strike force
bug triager!) upon my request, thanks!

It remains to be seen whether it's worth to splice in the wiki page into
the www.d.o or not, ... but it's a start!

Cheers.

Your triaging contributions are welcome!

While handling bugs can be considered part of the maintainer's job, you can definitely help them by triaging some bugs. For more information on this topic, you can read the wiki's <a href="http://wiki.debian.org/BugTriage";>Bug Triage page, it will guide you in this task.

Some teams have there own guidelines:
- The <a href="http://pkg-kde.alioth.debian.org/bugs.html";>KDE Bug triaging page.
- The <a href="http://wiki.debian.org/Gnome/BugTriage";>Gnome Bug triaging page.
- The X Strike Force has some pages, <a href="http://wiki.debian.org/XStrikeForce/BugClosingProcedure";>one on the wiki and a new one more specific to <a href="http://pkg-xorg.alioth.debian.org/howtos/triage-bugs.html";>bug triaging on the alioth project's doc.
- The perl group has some specific workflow described on <a href="http://wiki.debian.org/PerlBugSquashing";>Pear bug Squashing page.

Some other general docs that worth reading are:
- <a href="http://wiki.debian.org/HowtoUseBTS";>How to use the Bug Tracking System
- <a href="http://wiki.debian.org/BugsVersionTracking";>Bugs Version Tracking, about how the BTS treat the version informations.
- Finally don't hesitate to refer to the <a href="http://www.debian.org/Bugs/server-control";>BTS documentation whenever you need to write to control@b.d.o !
