I know that unequalled is Brit. and unequaled Amer. style but equalled isn't contained in
http://dict.leo.org or the ding package (and I'm sure you use the same dictionaries as I).

Also s/inofficial/unofficial/ is not wrong but also not absolutly necessary.

Since nobody complained yet and most parts of your patch are OK I suggest that you apply it.
It's always possible to revert small parts ...
