There's a bit of variation between people on topics like these, but some people are more comfortable with semi-anonymous interactions when it comes to things like Debian, whereas others flourish with more focused attention. Theories about why some people do better in smaller classes, come to mind, though I can't remember offhand whether these were male vs. female differences or students in general getting more attention.
