Bug#888800: RFP: python-dns-lexicon -- A python library for manipulating DNS records in a standardized way

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name    : python-dns-lexicon
  Version         : 2.1.18
  Upstream Author : Jason Kulatunga
* URL             : https://github.com/AnalogJ/lexicon
* License         : MIT
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : A python library for manipulating DNS records in a standardized way

This is a python wrapper for a general purpose DNS API which is needed as a
dependency for a number of Certbot DNS plugins.
Packaging this will allow the Certbot cloudxns, dns-simple, dnsmadeeasy,
nsone, and luadns plugins to be packaged.
This is notable because DNS authentication is the only method in the
ACME v2 spec that allows for the issuance of wildcard certificates - a
much sought after feature.
You can learn more about the relevant Certbot plugins here:
https://github.com/certbot/certbot
This package requires a sponsor, but should be able to be maintained by
the normal python packaging team.
This package will also need the tldextract python package to be packaged
as well. I will submit an RFP for that package seperately.
