Strange since any DD should have commit permissions. I've simply added
user georgesk to the Debian Science team. Please confirm whether this
was successful.

I never had any trouble with this - may be you really need to ask
listmaster. For the sake of testing I CC the list - just check whether
you receive this mail also via the list.
