you can count on my help in this effort should you ever need it. :)

How involved with Debian are you? Are you familiar with Git and CDBS? Do you have an Alioth account already? With membership in the collab-maint group?

I've used Debian quite a few years ago, but now using Ubuntu on a
daily basis for something like two(?) years already. Used git a few
times, never used CDBS. No Alioth account. Not a member
collab-maint. :)

As I look around this, I see that "ITP" means "Intent to Package".
Isn't there someone who's readily trying to package png++ or it's more
like 'request to package'? If it's more like a wishlist thing, I
think I can try to package it myself. But I give no ETAs. ;)

RFP means Request For Packaging - i.e. please can someone package this.

ITP means Intend To Package - i.e. This is in planning stage of actually getting packaged.

And in this case it was a short process: I filed the ITP while actually packaging, and the package was sent to Debian as soon as the Bug Tracker responded with a bug number that I could tie to the initial release.

Right now png++ is waiting in the NEW queue for a Debian ftpmaster to approve it (after checking that I did not make a glaring mistake like missing out on documenting some license or something).

So if you wanted to do the packaging _for_ me then that has no interest - and beside it is too late :-)

If you need that package yourself for Ubuntu, then feel free to grab the source and recompile it - that does not require any write access at Alioth:

  aptitude install git-buildpackage devscripts
  gbp-clone gbp-clone git.debian.org:/git/collab-maint/png++
  cd png++
  debchange --nmu --release
  debuild

If you really do want to get involved in packaging png++, then you are most welcome. Start out by creating a personal account at http://alioth.debian.org/ and then request membership at the very end of the long list at https://alioth.debian.org/projects/collab-maint/ - mention in your membership request that you need it for co-maintainance of png++. Tell me when done, and I'll introduce you to the various tools and routines involved in packaging. :-)

Would you be interested in helping out with other packages too?

Sure, when I have an illusion of free time and the need to get
something packaged in Debian. ;)

Fair enough :-)

Kind regards,

 - Jonas
