It looks for the existing target package. If a new source version has
been installed, it is not there so another build for each KVERS is
executed when needed.

Running "build" should be fine, auto-install will fail because dpkg
cannot run while another one has locked the database. And there are no
reliable post-execution-hook methods in dpkg; waiting for dpkg2...
