Bug#182212: ITP: ttf-bitstream-vera
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Package name : ttf-bitstream-vera
Version : 1.0
Upstream Author : Bitstream, Inc.
URL : http://gnome.org/fonts/
License : see below
Description : The Bitstream Vera family of free TrueType fonts
This is a set of high-quality TrueType fonts donated to the Free Software
community by Bitstream, Inc. They fully cover Western European languages
(ISO-8859-1, ISO-8859-15) and Turkish (ISO-8859-9). They also include a
selection of mathematical and other symbols and some limited support for
Eastern European languages (parts of ISO-8859-2). Non-latin scripts are
not supported.
Description improvements are of course welcome.
Currently only a non-distributable preview version is available, so there
are no preliminary packages. However the .dsc and .diff.gz are available
from http://people.debian.org/~michaelf/ttf-bitstream-vera/ so you can use
those together with the preview fonts from http://gnome.org/fonts/ to
build your own package. Note that this package must not be redistributed.
This is the draft license for the final version:

The only slightly questionable part is that the fonts must not be sold by
themselves, but my reading of DFSG 1 seems to suggest that this is
acceptable. Can the folks on -legal please confirm that my interpretation
is correct (and that I haven't missed anything else)?
The package will be uploaded once the final fonts are released, which will
probably happen sometime next month.
-Michael
