He is out there and told me to be in touch with upstream about some
problems.

I just tried your package, but have problems converting fo to pdf
(same as I had when installing passivetex myself):

Some time ago I wanted to hunt the problem down, but misteriously it
started working at the first try with no known change from me.  Maybe
I have time to hunt it down.
