yes, the psql support at this time has gotten quite mature, i would
say, thanks to the help/patches/suggestions/etc i've recieved from
others who know postgres better than i.  in the process, i've gotten
to learn quite a bit about it myself.  it supports now both password
and ident based authentication on local and remote hosts, with and
without ssl.  

afaik, there are no outstanding issues with postgres support, though
perhaps more issues will arise as more people use it.  if you're
interested in dbconfig-common, i'd highly recommend reading the 
crash-course documentation i threw together for it at

in particular "importing dbconfig-common into an existing package" and 
"packages that support multiple types of databases" may be of interest
to you.
